STEROID INJECTION

** A 60min physio assessment or 30min injection consultation is required prior to any injection

  • Steroid injections are used to deliver anti-inflammatory medication directly to the area required. Helping avoid systemic issues.

  • They reduce inflammation and the pain caused by this aiding mobility & function of joints and tissues, either solving the issue or allowing a window of opportunity to commence rehab without pain. 

  • Steroid can be injected as is, or mixed with local anaesthetic or saline

  • If a local anaesthetic is used pain relief is immediate whilst the steroid will take 1-2 weeks to reach maximum effect.

  • The effect will usually last 12 weeks

  • Risks and side effects are minimal and will be fully discussed with you prior to an appointment.

  • Due to prescription drugs being required a request will be sent your GP for these medications to be prescribed.

Conditions commonly treated include: Knee Arthritis, Frozen shoulder, Tennis elbow, Tendon injuries , Knee pain , Sub-acromial pains syndrome (SAPS), Acromio-clavicular joint pain, Trochanteric Bursitis / Greater trochanter Pain Syndrome (GTPS), De Quervin's Tenosynivitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Finger and Thumb joint pain, Ankle pain.

HYALURONIC ACID INJECTION
